AWA Hotel is the first property in Chile to be a B Corp Certification. Its mission is to create unique experiences based on the local culture and environment, working hand in hand with the local community, and achieving sustainable growth with their collaborators.
Awasi is carbon neutral: Preserving the three corners of South America where their lodges are located has always been of utmost importance. Awasi protects and conserves over 340 hectares (840 acres) of virgin forest and native woodland in Iguazu and Patagonia. These forest areas, preserved and maintained by their team, absorb over 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. This total is a greater amount than the emissions generated by our three lodges, as well as the airline and transfer travel undertaken by employees and guests.
Awasi and Relais & Chateaux: Relais & Châteaux and Slow Food have created an annual Food for Change campaign to protect local biodiversity and culinary heritage. Awasi works on different programs each year, using seasonal, locally produced ingredients, for example grown within a 50km radius of each property, reducing the amount of meat on the menu; creating more vegetarian dishes; supporting the rearing of local, heritage breeds, and indicating the breed and producers on the menu; for seafood, ensuring it has been sustainably and ethically sourced … and more!
