Welcome to Luvhondo

Arrive to Luvhondo by the Rovos Rail Train. Nestled amidst the Soutpansberg Mountains the lodge greets you with warm, African charm. Upon arrival to Luvhondo the friendly staff will offer a refreshing welcome drink and guide you to your elegantly appointed Cliff Suite. After you freshen up, enjoy a four-course dinner al fresco under the stars.

Day 2
A Day at Luvhondo

Start your day with an exhilarating ride through the bush on our one of kind Solfari aerial cable car. Travel through pristine landscapes spotting wildlife like giraffe, zebra, kudu and more. In the afternoon choose to hike, bike or enjoy a game drive to a different area of the mountain. We’ll make sure you end somewhere specular to enjoy sundowners with a view. Head back to our boma for dinner and an opportunity to experience local Venda drummers.

Day 3
Hike Through Luvhondo

Hike one of the most spectacular gorges on the mountain range - traverse through water courses, climb up and over rocks and end with a beautiful lunch overlooking the most incredible plains filled with giraffe, zebra, and rhino. After lunch and a short game drive, continue your hike to your overnight sleep out under the stars. Enjoy a fabulous bush dinner under the stars near your sleep out spot for the night.

Day 4
A Magical Day at Luvhondo

After a fabulous bush breakfast, head out to see very different terrain across the mountain range, hike, bike, game drive its up to you. After lunch head to the spa for a unique wellness experience tailored just to you. Walk our labyrinth, enjoy a long luxurious open air bath after your massage. Revel in the sounds of the bush. Enjoy a private dinner up on your deck or in a secret place in the bush to conclude your magical stay.

Getting there

Few & Far Luvhondo is located near the small village of Waterpoort, in the province of Limpopo in South Africa. Nestled in the heart of the Soutpansberg mountains in Limpopo the lodge offers several convenient ways for guests to arrive:

Rovos Rail: Guests can travel in style via the Rovos Rail, which arrives at the property from Victoria Falls once a week.

Charter Flight: Direct charter flights can land at our private airstrip, providing a seamless arrival experience.

Private Car: The lodge is accessible by car from Hoedspruit (3 hours away) or from Pretoria or Johannesburg (4.5 hours away).

Commercial Flight: Guests can also fly commercially to Polokwane and continue their journey to the lodge by private car (1.5 hours away)

Carbon Sequestration

As a Verra Registered Carbon Project we expect to sequester over 100,000 tons of additional carbon from the atmosphere each year by planting and rewilding the mountain. Our mission is to not only protect this special region but to restore it regeneratively contributing to our planet’s fight to combat the effects of Co2 emissions.

Job Creation

The property has created over 100 new jobs on the mountain, providing employment and training opportunities for local residents.

No Single Use Plastics

We have eliminated all single-use plastics and minimize plastic use in any form across our property.
