Join the conservation team for a walk around the island today. Learn about the protection and rehabilitation projects they’ve been working on as well as insight on the research teams current studies . Perhaps you’ll find a turtle nest! The island is rich for bird watching with over 100 species.
After enjoying a morning on the resort, head out for one of the most memorable lunches of your life! After a quick catamaran ride you’ll arrive at a low-tide sand bar where the Alphonse team has set up a full picnic lunch. Enjoy the afternoon in the middle of the ocean!
Enjoy a morning kayak or paddleboard around the island before enjoying a book on the beach. Relax in your bungalow before heading to a gourmet dinner.
Head out with the Conservation Manager to ID their resident manta rays & add their pictures to a database of mantas that’s shared with the Manta Trust and used to improve data sets used in manta ray conservation. You’ll learn all about their habitat, lifestyle, and efforts to protect and preserve their lifestyle.
For your last day on the island take a bike round to a secluded area for private time on the beach. Enjoy a refreshing spa therapy before dinner and a final sunset catamaran cruise for your last stunning sunset.

The Alphonse Island Lodge provides support through its membership on the board of the Alphonse Conservation Foundation and hotel guests contribute essential funding to the activities of ICS through the payment of a conservation levy. ICS provides a weekly presentation to guests which provides progress updates and discussion of environmental topics. Books and souvenirs can be purchased from the ICS office, with the proceeds providing further financial support to the conservation efforts.
Conservation is something Alphonse holds very close to their hearts and they are committed to protecting the unique fauna and flora of the area with ongoing research, rehabilitation and monitoring programs, focusing especially on nesting sea turtles, giant tortoises, sensitive marine habitats and forest rehabilitation. This dedication to conservation has at all times been at the center of their mission to create an island that is intimately connected to the natural environment.
Established in 2007, the Alphonse Island Conservation Centre has ensured the key aspects of its ecosystem are well maintained and cared for. The Island Conservation Society (ICS) team offers activities upon the island such as Turtle Patrol, Beach Clean ups, Giant Tortoise viewing and feeding and bird-watching which guests are encouraged to join. Without their sound knowledge, the ecosystem on this island would not be what it is today.
